This party mix saved my life this holiday season.
Whether my husband forgot to tell me people were coming over, whether I needed a last minute hostess gift, whether I forgot to eat a meal and needed a quick snack, this sweet and spicy pretzel and nut mix was there to save the day.
Really, though, you’ll want to save this all for yourself to nibble on over a chilled glass of wine as your coq au vin simmers away. (That’s the scenario in my dreams, anyway.)
It was so quick to whip up, so delicious, that I have already made nearly two-and-a-half pounds of it in total.
The first time I grabbed a handful, still slightly warm from the oven, I told myself this was the best thing I’d ever made. Maybe I’ve said that one or two or three times, but this is no regular nuts and bolts mix. It starts out sweet, and then the smoky spicy flavour steps in, and the salt rounds it out. It’s the perfect party mix.
I admit it strays from my usual baking mandate, but perhaps you can forgive this rare transgression. You can find the recipe over at David Lebovitz’s blog but it’s adapted from his book “The Sweet Life in Paris.”
Substitutions: I couldn’t find mini pretzels, so I used President’s Choice alphabet pretzels instead. It ended up being rather cute, if I do say so myself. In the first batch I made, I used Brazil nuts, pecans, cashews. In the second batch I used Brazil nuts, pecans, peanuts, and cashews. Both were equally as good.
Would I make this again? As soon as I run out, yes.
Grade: Five stars out of five. Make this. You won’t regret it.

This sounds much better than the normal run of the mill party mix you always see. It really does look and sound delicious. Thank you so much for linking this up to Cookbook Sundays Mary. Have a great week!
Nice! Reminds me that I used to make this one all the time for our pre-kids house parties. Tasty in a different way…. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Hot-Curried-Party-Mix-10818
